Biology Scholarships

All Biology Department scholarships are now included in the new WWU Scholarship Portal.

WWU has transitioned to a centralized scholarship process where students will complete a single scholarship application and be considered for all WWU scholarships that they qualify for. This new centralized application will automatically use existing student data (GPA, major, minor, etc.) along with questions and essays to streamline the scholarship process.

Students who submit an application will be considered for scholarships from all areas of campus, including academic and non-academic areas.

Applications are due May 4th at 11:59pm.

To be considered for a Biology Department scholarship:

  • Applications must be submitted through the Scholarship Center's portal.
  • Applicants must be full-time Biology undergraduate majors or Biology graduate students.
  • Undergraduate applicants need to have completed at least one (1) upper-division BIOL course, and (at a minimum) be enrolled in their second quarter of the Biology major.
  • A concise narrative is required on the application and should describe your interest in biology and how it relates to your post-graduation goals. Include information about your academic awards and honors, internships, research experience, teaching assistant work, special projects, or publications.
  • Obtain one letter of recommendation by a WWU science faculty member of your choosing. Details regarding this requirement will be included in the Scholarship Center's portal application procedures.
