About

Completed my undergraduate here at WWU, currently studying in the Pollard Lab.

Research Interests

Before taking on my master's, I studied the development and application of assymetric gold nanoparticles under Dr. Ying Bao at WWU. Currently, I am interested in studying which genes influence aging using baker's yeast as a model organism in the Pollard Lab. Utilizing powerful next generation sequencing technology couple with bulk segregate analysis (BSA-Seq), powerful analysis of genetic material can help identify quantitative trait loci that may be associated with the phenotype of aging. As an aside, to accumulate large sample sizes for BSA-Seq, my project also focuses on developing miniature aging devices (MADs) which serve to simultaneously cultivate aged yeast cells and isolate the aged yeast cells from their younger counterparts.
